DJI Unveils Mic 3: Exciting Features, But There's a Catch!

DJI's wireless microphones have become ubiquitous in the content creation landscape, subtly embedded in the videos that populate your TikTok and YouTube feeds. If you’re not familiar with them, these compact wireless mics can easily go unnoticed, which is precisely the intent behind their sleek design.
The latest in DJI's microphone lineup is the eagerly awaited Mic 3, which builds on the success of its predecessor, the Mic 2.
On September 5, DJI will officially unveil the Mic 3 at the IFA consumer tech conference in Berlin. However, there’s a catch: the new microphone won’t be available for purchase in the United States through DJI's official channels just yet. For those eager to get their hands on it, ordering from unofficial overseas resellers is an option, albeit one that comes with its own risks.
A product page for the DJI Mic 3 is already active on DJI's website. The version containing a charging case, two microphones, and a transmitter is priced at $329, while the microphone and transmitter set alone is listed at $219. Both options are currently marked as "Out of Stock," which is a common scenario for DJI products.

Unpacking the DJI Mic 3
The Mic 3 represents a significant advancement in DJI's range of pocket microphones. These compact, wireless devices are designed for easy attachment to clothing or for handheld use, delivering professional-grade audio directly to your smartphone via a transmitter. The inclusion of a wind guard further enhances usability for outdoor recordings.
Both the Mic 2 and Mic Mini have garnered a dedicated following among content creators, often leading to stock shortages. You may have already spotted them in the hands of your favorite influencers on platforms like TikTok and YouTube.
So, what differentiates the Mic 3 from its predecessors?

According to a press release from DJI:
The DJI Mic 3 is the most advanced mini wireless mic yet, featuring 32-bit dual file internal recording, timecoding, intelligent noise cancellation, and Adaptive Gain Control. It’s the first mic in the industry to support multiple RXs with up to 4 TXs, making it suitable for everything from fieldwork to large production sets. The Mic 3 is also half the size and weight of the Mic 2, offering a compact design that's easy to wear, complete with a rotatable clip for optimal sound capture.
This new microphone weighs a mere 16 grams and boasts an impressive array of features, including:
Adaptive gain control
32GB of internal storage
Three voice tone presets (regular, rich, bright)
Two-level noise cancellation
Detachable rotating clip
Lossless audio transmission (uncompressed 48kHz 24-bit audio)
400-meter range
8-hour battery life, extendable to 28 hours with the charging case (receiver lasts 10 hours)
