My kitchen is an endless hub of traffic and, well, I'm a messy cook. So sometimes, the robot vacuums I rely on just can't get to the floor clean enough in one pass. This is when you'd usually reach for a manual mop—but that requires you to lug a heavy bucket around the house. I've tested several stick mops, from Dyson to Shark, and they've mostly been "OK" but not impressive. The Dyson leaked and the Shark wasn't powerful enough to dig into grime; a Eureka used steam, but it turns out, that's bad for your tile. Then Narwal sent me the S20, and it's a dream. And it's on sale for $340 right now, down from it's original price of $500, for Prime Day.
A combo vacuum and mop, the S20 has a small dock it stands in to charge and to clean the mop head. You get a second mop head, which you can throw in the dishwasher, so there's always a spare ready to go. The mop itself has two compartments: one you fill with clean water and cleaner, and a dirty water container that you empty when prompted.
The first delight is that using the S20 is like following a power mower. It goes. You are not pushing it, just following along (my house-sitter said she had trouble keeping up). The stick has an interface on the end; you press a button to tell the mop how hard it should work, and there's a trigger under the handle to dispense cleanser.
What's notable is that the roller mop does a good job of digging into average grime, which no robot mop can do well. But the S20 also gets where a robot can't—right up against the wall, into corners, and under toe kicks. While it's unlikely to get a deep stain on the first pass, neither is your manual mop. Since you're standing there anyway, a second pass is easy to orchestrate, with or without additional power. The floor looks absurdly clean when you're done.
To empty the dirty water container, simply remove the container, turn it upside down, and dump it into the sink. Rinse it out, put it back in, and it's ready to go. Despite not containing a ton of water, I only have to refill the clean water once every few mop cycles.
I like having the S20 at my disposal so much that I have finally let go of the manual mop in my closet. There's nothing that it can do the S20 can't. At $160 off the list price for Prime Day, it's a great time to grab one for yourself.
