Marshall headphones are known for their retro style, and they don’t skimp on sound quality, either. Right now, the over-ear Marshall Major V headphones are 38% off on Amazon, bringing the price down to around $100. Are they a good buy?

The Major V is the upgraded (and pricier) 2024 version of the 2021 Marshall Major IV headphones, which earned an “Excellent” rating on PCMag for “bassy and  bright audio performance.” The newer model offers a few key improvements, including impressive battery life (100 hours, compared to 80 for the older model), wireless charging, and Bluetooth 5.3. The updated version offers slight improvements in audio clarity and app customization, such as EQ and M-button functions. They’re also Spotify Tap compatible.

While they don’t come with a case, the foldable, lightweight design (just over 6.5 ounces) makes them a portable and self-protecting option. However, they don’t have a clearly advertised IPX rating, so they may not be ideal for sweaty workouts use in the rain. Additionally, some find the touch control sensors easy to use, but they may not be great if you prefer physical buttons.

Amazon reviewers praise their comfort, but if you’re a music aficionado looking for noise cancellation, you may want to opt for an over-ear option from Anker instead. At the same time, For a more budget-friendly option from the same brand, the Major IV predecessor are still a decent buy. However, if you’re looking for battery life that goes the distance, a distinct retro aesthetic, and excellent bass depth, the Marshall Major V headphones are a solid value—especially at this Prime Day price.

• Home Depot extended its 4th of July sale through at least July 9, competing with some amazing deals of its own. It’s an especially good option if you’re looking for power tools, appliances, or outdoor equipment.
