For as long as I can remember, my wife and I have had at least five pets roaming our house at any given time. We’re suckers for strays, rescues, and furry beggars who show up outside our door. As anyone with pets knows, that means our house is a cheerful place that is also constantly covered in a mountain of pet hair.

Battling that animal detritus almost drove me mad for a while, and for help, I turned to a whole fleet of vacuums that claimed to be custom-built for my specific issue. A great all-around vacuum

It’s not a small vacuum, but it’s surprisingly light, which makes the fact that you can separate the canister to carry around much more useful. You can use the vacuum as an upright, then lift the canister away to tackle the stairs. It also sports easy switches between hard floors and carpets and offers lots of attachments for crevices and upholstery. Which is great, because that pet fur just gets everywhere, and you haven’t lived until you’ve realized that your curtains are covered in shed fur. Being able to easily clean them while you’re vacuuming the rest of the house is an almost religious experience for a neatnik like me. The canister is big, so you can clean the entire house without having to pause, and it’s got a built-in HEPA filter.

The pet multi-tool is a killer feature

That's all well and good, but like I said, it’s the pet multi-tool that puts this thing over the top. It separates from the main body of the vacuum, allowing you to maneuver it wherever you need to to suck up every strand of pet hair in your home. And it really sucks up pet fur effectively, pulling it off every surface with relative ease. It’s highly-rated for very good reasons.

Home Depot extended its 4th of July sale through at least July 9, competing with some amazing deals of its own. It’s an especially good option if you’re looking for power tools, appliances, or outdoor equipment.
